(PCM) A group of Satanist from New York City have recently unveiled plans to create at 7-foot devil statue that will be erected right next to or across from the famous Ten Commandments statue near the Capitol in Oklahoma City, OK. The group have submitted an official application outlining their plans to the individuals who oversee the Capitol grounds.
The planned statue will depict Baphomet. a goat-headed creature with horns, wings and a long beard often used to depict the devil in occult circles. An artist rendering of the proposed statue features Baphomet seated in a throne with a pentagram image behind him, surrounded by two smiling children.
A temple spokesman Lucien Greaves had the following to say ” “The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond. The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation.”
Awww…so we can get up close and cuddly with the creepy devil statue…great idea! Please note our sarcasm!
The people at the temple have raised over $9,000 dollars to help see this project into fruition from crowd-funding donation and only need about $20,000 to complete the full project. Scary part is that they are almost half-way there!
The group, who are most likely not even real Satanic worshippers, are attempting to make a statement with the statue and are look at their group as a ‘poison pill’ in the Church/State debate. Oklahoma legislators allowed a Ten Commandments monument at the capitol building in 2012 and currently, The American Civil Liberties Union is suing to get the monument removed.
