It’s that dreaded time of year again. A time when our televisions, and everything around us seems to be consumed with political ads. That’s right folks it’s that time of year  again, when we have to hear all about how this person is going to change this thing or that thing. And how the other guy or gal did this or that. Following all that rhetoric can be very overwhelming and misleading to a lot of people.

Politics can be a very wearisome game. A game full of lies and half-truth’s. Politician’s seem to spend more time making promises, then they do fixing the issues. That is one of the reason’s American politics is laughed at by other countries around the world. Politics has become more of an entertainment art then it has been on solving major issues. Well the fine people of Cormorant, Minnesota have solved the problem. The town has elected a dog for mayor. That’s right a dog

Duke may very well be the most popular politician in recent history. This will be Duke’s third term as mayor of Cormorant. How can a dog be elected mayor? Well everyone loves dogs and they can’t tell a lie, because they can’t talk.

“Everybody voted for Duke, except for one vote for his girlfriend, Lassie,” David Rick, Dukes owner told a local affiliate of ABC News.

The voting was held over the weekend, the 9-year-old Great Pyrenees won his third consecutive term as mayor of the town of Cormorant, Minnesota. The voting took place at the annual “Cormorant Daze” festival. Voters paid $1 each to cast ballots in the election.

It may seem weird, but surprisingly Duke hasn’t been the first animal to be elected to office. A cow, two other dogs, a cat, and a beer drinking goat, have all held office.Sometimes fact can be stranger than fiction.
