Opera Singer Amy Herbst Claims She Can’t Perform Without Farting Due To Botched Surgery

(PCM) Amy Herbst, a singer with the Nashville Opera Company, is reportedly suing the the federal government over a botched childbirth operation. Herbst claims that the operation left her unable to perform due the constant occurrence of both flatulence and incontinence and her career is now in jeopardy.
The lawsuit claims that a nurse-midwife at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital at Fort Campbell, Ky, where Herbst’s husband former Army Staff Sgt. James Herbst was stationed at the time, caused her injuries during the birth of her son,when the nurse performed an episiotomy to enlarge the birth opening.
Herbst claims that she was never asked nor did she give her permission to have the incision made during the birthing process. During a follow-up visit, another nurse told Herbst attempts to repair the incision had been unsuccessful.
Herbst claims that due to excessive gas and constant incontinence she is unable to work as a professional opera singer. Herbst was a mezzo-soprano and was an ensemble member scheduled to perform in its production of Madame Butterfly.
Herbst and her husband are seeking $2.5 million in damages and costs.
