Pokemon Statue Mysteriously Appears In New Orleans Park

Pokemon Statue

A wild craze has been going on. A craze that has taken the world by storm. The craze involves catching Pokemon. You read that correctly. The popular TV show from the 90s has returned in a new format. Got to catch them all, on your phone that is.

You have probably seen or know someone that takes part in these games. The game is called Pokemon Go. The idea is simple: as you travel around you must try and capture all the little monsters that appear within range. The game has become somewhat of a phenomenon. Many people are now hosting Poke Hunting parties. With the success of anything their will always be the detractors. Just a couple days ago Iran became the first country to ban the game. Iran is blaming security concerns on the ban.

Among the wild craze that has been occurring around the country a Pokemon has appeared that people can actually touch.  Someone has put up a statue of the iconic Pokemon, Pikachu, at the center of a broken fountain in a park. Pictures show a defiant looking Pikachu with his arms folded standing on a cement base with a Pokeball on the side. The inscription “#POKEMONUMENT” is also written on the cement.

New Orleans police say they haven’t received any complaints about the statue, and don’t know where it came from and don’t plan to do anything about it.

Pokemon fans and people of all ages have been visiting the park located in the city’s upscale Lower Garden District, posing for photos with family and posting selfies with the statue on social media. Pokemon Go has brought people out of the house and into the world. Strangers are becoming friends, because of this game. Whatever the opinion of the people about this game. The takeaway seems to be very positive.
