(PCM) James Meyers of North Carolina was recently arrested for quite a bizarre reason. It seems that Meyers forgot to return a VHS rental copy of the film “Freddy Got Fingered” fourteen years ago and there was a warrant placed out for his arrest.
The arrest happened after Meyers, who was driving his daughter to school, was pulled over for a routine traffic stop due to his vehicle having a broken tail light. After police ran his license, Meyers was asked to step outside of the vehicle. He was then told by the officer that there was a warrant out for his arrest since 2002. Meyer’s truly thought it was all a joke when the officer added “Apparently you rented the movie “Freddy Got Fingered” and never returned it”.
Failure to return rental property, which is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $200. After dropping his daughter off at school and then turning himself in Meyers assumed the situation could be easily remedied, however he was wrong. Once at the station he was arrested and taken to the magistrates office! Unbelievable!
Star of “Freddy Got Fingered” actor Tom Green was made aware of the Meyers situation and tweeted “I just saw this and I am struggling to believe it is real.” Green even called Meyers and offered to put in a good word for him in court and pay the fine.
There has been no additional information as to how much Meyers has been fined or if he will be forced to endure any additional charges over this ridiculous situation!
