(PCM) Two American tourists, women aged 21 and 25, were arrested inside Rome’s historic landmark Colosseum after being reported to security for allegedly carving their initials into the brick inside the structure.
The women carved the letters “J” and “N” into the brick with a coin and the letters were approximately 8 inches in length. Sources claim that both women took a selfie with their handy work just prior to their arrest.
The women now face charges and a fine for aggravated damage of historical and artistic interest. Their names have not been released at this time. A Russian man was caught carving a letter “K” into the Colosseum last year and was fined over $20,000 for the damages, so these women could be facing double that amount.
